The Futurating platform has launched two new language versions — English and Spanish. Now, ideas about the future, postulates, news, interviews, contests, quizzes, and other platform materials can be read not only by Russian-speaking users but also by an international audience.
This is an important step for the project. Futurating was originally created as a space where people can not just discuss the future, but formulate it: propose postulates, evaluate ideas, argue, supplement, find like-minded people, and turn reflections on the future into a collective intellectual effort.
The Futurating project is a key project of ANO «Image of the Future», which develops initiatives related to the image of the future, education, engaging people in conversations about tomorrow, and creating practical tools for working with the future.
The Spanish version became a step toward Latin America
The launch of the Spanish version is of particular importance. It was created as part of developing international cooperation with representatives from Mexico and Latin America. One of the important partners in this direction is Edgar Lozano Vargas, whom the project team met at the international forum Open Dialogue in Moscow. After this meeting, discussions began on how the ideas of Futurating could be useful not only in Russia but also for a Spanish-speaking audience.
«Meeting Edgar Lozano Vargas at the Open Dialogue forum was an important confirmation for us: the topic of the future is understood by people from different countries. The Spanish version of Futurating is not just a website translation, but an invitation to a joint conversation about the future for Mexico, Latin America, and everyone who resonates with this topic,» noted Futurating project author Valery Mityakin.
The Spanish version of the platform is the first step towards enabling people from Mexico, Latin America, and other Spanish-speaking communities to join the conversation about the future in a language they understand. For Futurating, this is especially important: the future cannot be a closed topic of one country, one language, or one group of experts. It is shaped through different cultures, perspectives, experiences, and expectations.
How to switch the language on the platform
The platform currently offers three interface languages: Russian, English, and Spanish. In the left column of the site, they are indicated by short buttons: RU — Russian, EN — English, ES — Spanish.
To switch the language, open the left column of the site. Two separate blocks have now appeared there.
Interface Language controls the language of menus, buttons, forms, and tooltips. You can choose Russian, English, or Spanish.
Content Language helps you select which materials to show in the feed. You can leave the mode on All — then the platform will display posts regardless of their original language. The interface and available translations of materials will be shown in the chosen language: Russian, English, or Spanish. If you only want content in a specific language, you can select RU, EN, or ES.
You can also directly open the desired version via the link: the Russian version is available at futurating.com, the English version at futurating.com/en/, and the Spanish version at futurating.com/en/.
Authors will be able to reach a new audience
For authors, this opens up new opportunities. Their ideas about the future can be seen by people beyond the Russian-speaking audience. For readers, this is also a new format: you can compare views on the future from different countries, read materials in your preferred language, and participate in discussions more broadly than before.
The international direction will develop not only on the platform. ANO «Image of the Future» plans to release a board game called Futurating: What Will Happen? in Spanish and other languages. This is another ANO project that helps discuss the future in a live format: around a table, in teams, at meetings, in educational programs, and international projects. The game can become an accessible tool for introducing the ideas of Futurating even where people are hearing about the platform for the first time.
The launch of language versions is just the beginning of the international stage of Futurating. The platform will continue to evolve as an open space where people from different countries can together describe, discuss, and bring the images of the future closer.
