The future forecasting platform «Futurating» provided the «New Media Workshop» with three sets of the board game «Futurating».

The game is a strategic creative simulator for 3–8 players, where participants model scenarios for the development of technology, economy, society, and culture. Each player receives cards with «trends» and «change drivers» — from AI ecosystems and biotechnologies to shifts in lifestyle, media, and politics. The goal is to forecast which development directions will be most influential in the near and medium term, and to build a logical cause-and-effect chain between them.

The game mechanics are designed for 60–90 minutes of play time; the outcome of a session is determined by a «future index» — a scoring system that evaluates the logic and coherence of the proposed scenarios. The process simultaneously trains critical and systems thinking, and helps develop skills in formulating and presenting future scenarios.

The received sets can be used by the «New Media Workshop» in educational programs and workshops for journalists, media managers, PR specialists, and strategy professionals. Teachers and course participants will be able to test their own hypotheses about the future, as well as discuss how possible changes in technology and society will affect the media environment and the public.

«This is a valuable tool for our projects focused on developing futuristic thinking and strategic media planning,» the «New Media Workshop» reported.

The «Futurating» platform positions the board game as a business and educational product that can be used both in corporate programs and in academic courses on strategic planning and media futurology.
