The first «Authors of the Future» contest, launched on the Futurating platform on November 25 in test mode, has taken place! It featured 13 authors who jointly wrote 72 postulates on how they envision the future. Among the postulates were ideas about what the education system will look like in 500 years, why we shouldn’t fear AI, how hedgehog terraformers will transform the surface of Mars, and how literacy will become a universal hygiene standard. Participants came from Moscow and Sevastopol, Vladimir and Veliky Novgorod, Sakhalin and Adygea. They included schoolchildren and teachers, retirees and journalists, science fiction writers and students, with students from a wide range of specialties—from philosophers to future agricultural engineers. We called our winners in Vladimir, Moscow, and Simferopol to learn what they think about participating in the contest, the Futurating project, and how they plan to collaborate in the future.

At first, I was simply curious to try structuring my thoughts. Then, after writing a scientific article, I saw the opportunity to think more freely than is customary in academia, and I started systematic design of the future of education. It’s very difficult to look 50 or even 500 years ahead, but by forming possible development paths, some steps can be taken right now. So that in the future we get a comprehensively developed, educated person. I will continue active collaboration with the portal in the future: I am confident that my postulates will later grow into a coherent scientific system.

It’s really great that there is such an initiative, a project that allows us to think about the future and formulate our thoughts. Mine deal exclusively with the arrival of a regime of full literacy. The Futurating platform has attracted many new people to my non-commercial project for protecting the Russian language. It is built on interested people, and here we are on the same wavelength as Futurating. Maybe I missed some subtleties and nuances of the project, but I will correct all that, and next year, of course, I will continue writing, because it interests me, and not only me but also my subscribers. I think that new authors will join Futurating from among those who were initially interested only in the future of the Russian language—now they are interested in the future as a whole.

Initially, we did not plan to participate in the contest, but—why not? Together with my husband, Sergey, we wrote several postulates on topics we develop in our books. I consider it a great success that we managed to interest the children, participants of the science fiction short story contest «Milky Way,» which we have been running for many years together with the Crimean Observatory. Let them still fantasize more than design, but even a small seed, with proper care, can grow into a big tree. Futurating is a unique and very useful project—may it develop and live on, and become the basis for a solid mathematical model of designing the future. I know that if we all think in the same direction, thought will become tangible. So let our future be positive! I participated in the contest with pleasure, and I will participate again.
