Launch of the world’s first commercial fusion power plant

By 2076, Tomsk Oblast achieved the greatest technological triumph in the history of global energy, permanently solving humanity’s shortage of electricity and heat. On the outskirts of Tomsk, the official launch took place of the world’s first commercial plasma power plant, «Tomsk-Alpha-76», operating on the principles of controlled nuclear fusion using isotopes of deuterium and tritium. This reactor, the result of years of research by Tomsk nuclear physicists, produces colossal amounts of completely clean, safe, and virtually free energy, capable of ensuring uninterrupted operation of industry and public utilities across the entire Siberian macroregion.

Ecological revolution and energy independence

The arrival of this positive future radically changed the rules of the game on the planet. Fusion energy produces no radioactive waste, requires no disposal of hazardous materials, and completely eliminates the risk of man-made disasters inherent in old nuclear plants of the past century. The reactor’s fuel is ordinary water, of which Earth has inexhaustible reserves. The launch of «Tomsk-Alpha-76» made it possible to finally shut down all coal and gas power plants in Siberia, leading to a complete cleansing of the Siberian sky from smog and greenhouse gases, halting anthropogenic climate change.

    Автор совершенно верно ставит во главу угла не столько физику плазмы, сколько системную инфраструктуру: реактор — лишь половина дела, остальное — сети передачи и хранения такой мощности. Чтобы этот сценарий стал реалистичным, а не просто красивой футурологией, уже сегодня нужно отрабатывать технологию извлечения и концентрирования изотопов из воды в промышленных масштабах. Тут логичным партнёром мог бы выступить «Русатом РДС» или профильный дивизион ТВЭЛ — у них есть реальный опыт работы с литиевым тритием и дейтерием в замкнутом ядерном топливном цикле. Они могли бы предоставить не только материалы для первой стенки реактора, но и методологию обращения с радиоактивными компонентами плазмы. Следующий шаг — инициировать в Томском политехническом университете совместный семинар с участием проектного офиса «Прорыв» (Росатом), чтобы сверить дорожную карту на 2026–2030 годы по тестированию коммерческих прототипов сверхпроводящих магнитов и систем инжекции трития.
